More info: "Battlestar
Galactica" ran on ABC for one season (1978-1979), then returned for one
season in 1980 as "Galactica 1980". It was a battle of good vs. evil, as
the (evil) Cylons wiped out most of humankind and pursued the (good) Galactica
(with its rag-tag fleet). The series starred Lorne Greene as Commander
Adama, with Richard Hatch, Dirk Benedict, and a host of other regulars.
For its time, it was one of the highest budgeted series on TV. The series
was later revived in the early 2000s without the "campiness" from the original
series.
