The
major obstacle between Grant and his goal was Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern
Virginia. Lee was already a legendary figure to the soldiers of both armies.
Since the spring of 1862, he had frustrated every Yankee attempt to seize
the rebel Capital. By 1864, the North had become war-weary. If Lee could
successfully defeat Grant in the upcoming campaign, the South was likely
to achieve its goal in the war of independence. "Lee Vs. Grant" re-creates
Grant's move against Lee in trying to destroy his Army and capture Richmond.
Six introductory and three Campaign scenarios. The Campaign games capture
more flavor of the Civil war period. Random events may bring torrential
rains or weaken the Confederates if Lee becomes ill. Union Leaders use
sea transport to make sweeping moves up and down the Chesapeake coast.
Reinforcements from the Shenandoah may bolster the Confederates, but will
leave the Valley open to Union exploitation. Low to medium complexity.

An
important note regarding Avalon Hill games
- It was not unusual for Avalon Hill to re-publish most of their games
with 2nd, 3rd or more Editions. Sometimes the game components changed,
sometimes they didn't. If your game components do not correspond exactly
with what is listed, do not despair. You may just have to do a little more
checking to insure its completeness.
