"Stalingrad"
is a re-creation of Germany's WW2 campaign in Russia using Corps-level
units. As the German commander, begin your offensive near the Polish-Russian
border
.... as the Russian commander, direct a strategic defense in the hopes
of stopping the German thrust before the gates of Stalingrad. Each game-turn
is one month. Low complexity and good starter game for would-be wargamers.
There was also a PBM (Play-By-Mail) Kit available for "Stalingrad". Avalon
Hill also did a computer game on
"Stalingrad", but it was not directly linked to the board game.
Game
components include : Mapboard, 117 Counters, Weather Table chart, 2-piece
Sliding Odds Factor card, Time Record card, Die, 12-page Battle Manual,
Supplement instruction sheet & Rule book.
Two
players (more using subordinates). Ages 12 & up. Avalon Hill from 1963.

An
important note regarding Avalon Hill games
- It was not unusual for Avalon Hill to re-publish most of their games
with 2nd, 3rd or more Editions. Sometimes the game components changed,
sometimes they didn't. If your game components do not correspond exactly
with what is listed, do not despair. You may just have to do a little more
checking to insure its completeness.
