"Raid
On St. Nazaire" is a simulation of the March 28, 1942 British naval and
commando attack on the Atlantic coast port in occupied France. St.
Nazaire is best known as the site of Nazi Germany's near-impregnable submarine
pens, but that was not the objective of this attack. The port was also
home to the battleship Tirpitz, sister ship to the sunken Bismarck, and
extensive maintenance facilities and dock. The player's objective, in this
Solitaire game, is to destroy the facilities and dock ... and get out.
Points are gained by damaging or destroying various targets and by exiting
survivors off the map. But points are not gained for merely eliminating
units protecting the installation.

An
important note regarding Avalon Hill games
- It was not unusual for Avalon Hill to re-publish most of their games
with 2nd, 3rd or more Editions. Sometimes the game components changed,
sometimes they didn't. If your game components do not correspond exactly
with what is listed, do not despair. You may just have to do a little more
checking to insure its completeness.
