"Patton's
Best" is a solitaire game that puts you in the commander's seat of a Sherman
tank in George Patton's best fighting division, the 4th Armored. You control
only your tank and crew, where each member is rated for their skill at
their position, which, in turn, affects how well they perform. Starting
with low ratings, your crew will build their ratings and efficiencies over
time ... and may survive to become veterans! Start in a basic M4 Sherman
tank but you may be able to command any one of 17 different Sherman variations.
The game system controls the action of the German units and the rest of
the American force. Three types of scenarios are included: Advances (breakthroughs
/ rapid movement into enemy territory), Battles (attacking enemy positions)
and Counterattacks (defending).
Game
components include : Mapboard, Counters, 9 Tank cards, 3 Charts
& Tables cards, Combat Calendar, After Action report pad, 2 ten-sided
Dice & Rule book.
One
player. Ages 12 & up. Avalon Hill. Design: Bruce Shelley.
Additional
info: There was an article on this game in "The General" magazine Vol.
25 # 3.
An
important note regarding Avalon Hill games
- It was not unusual for Avalon Hill to re-publish most of their games
with 2nd, 3rd or more Editions. Sometimes the game components changed,
sometimes they didn't. If your game components do not correspond exactly
with what is listed, do not despair. You may just have to do a little more
checking to insure its completeness.
