"Panzerblitz"
re-creates the drama and furious action of Tactical-level armored warfare
on a mapboard that represents about 20 square miles of typical Russian
terrain. Counters represent Platoon & Company-sized units which fought
on the Eastern Front in WW2. Three sectioned, geo-morphic mapboards allow
variety of terrain configurations. Rules take in consideration range, elevation,
obstacles to fire, fortifications, close infantry assault tactics, weapons
inter-relationships, motor transport, anti-tank guns and more. Medium complexity.
Spawned "Panzer Leader" and "Arab-Israeli
Wars".
"Panzerblitz"
boasted a number of innovations when released : Multi-scenario concept,
open-ended game and isomorphic mapboards. The original version was a slide-in
box type with a small, blue plastic Tray and the CRT was on the inside
box lid, but this is one of the most revised
& updated games around, so check for more details. There was also a
PBM (Play-By-Mail) Kit and a "Wargamer's Guide To Panzerblitz" booklet
available.

An
important note regarding Avalon Hill games
- It was not unusual for Avalon Hill to re-publish most of their games
with 2nd, 3rd or more Editions. Sometimes the game components changed,
sometimes they didn't. If your game components do not correspond exactly
with what is listed, do not despair. You may just have to do a little more
checking to insure its completeness.
