"Flat
Top" re-creates the major Battles of the Solomon Seas in this aircraft
carrier operations game of World War 2. The game uses a system of hidden
movement, which requires a bit of trust for both players. Send out search
planes to find enemy task forces while preparing to launch strikes if they
are found. Five scenarios are included: "Rings Around Rabaul" covers an
American carrier raid on the Japanese base at Rabaul; "Coral Sea"
re-creates the attempted Japanese invasion of Port Moresby; "Eastern Solomons"
is where the Japanese must invade Gill-Gill and Guadalcanal; "Santa Cruz"
is strictly a carrier versus carrier battle and "Guadalcanal"
covers the last serious Japanese attempt to capture the island. High complexity.

An
important note regarding Avalon Hill games
- It was not unusual for Avalon Hill to re-publish most of their games
with 2nd, 3rd or more Editions. Sometimes the game components changed,
sometimes they didn't. If your game components do not correspond exactly
with what is listed, do not despair. You may just have to do a little more
checking to insure its completeness.
