"Enemy
In Sight" pits the four mightiest 19th century fleets against each other
in a simple free-for-all naval combat card game. Each player starts with
a fleet of six ships and six cards. As your ships are destroyed your hand
size diminishes as well. Break the line, rake the enemy's bow, set her
afire, and send across a boarding party to take her home as a Prize. Blockades,
fire ships, running aground, and the weather gauge all play a role. Originally
titled "Cutthroats & Cannons". Low complexity.
Game
components include : 56 Ship cards, 120 Action cards, 40 Playing pieces,
Die & Rules.
Two to eight players. Ages
10 & up. Avalon Hill from 1988. Design: Neal Schlaffer.
Additional
info: There were articles on this game in "The General" magazine:
Vol.
25 # 4
Vol.
30 # 2 Fleet Variant
An
important note regarding Avalon Hill games
- It was not unusual for Avalon Hill to re-publish most of their games
with 2nd, 3rd or more Editions. Sometimes the game components changed,
sometimes they didn't. If your game components do not correspond exactly
with what is listed, do not despair. You may just have to do a little more
checking to insure its completeness.
