Inspired
by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's work, "The Lost World", "Dinosaurs Of The Lost
World" starts your adventure after you have crossed a bridge and the bridge
collapses behind you, trapping you in this Lost World. You are to explore
the new world in search of scientific discovery and reward. You will need
to outfit your expedition with Tools, trek to Unexplored Sites and possibly
land on an Adventure Site. The Adventure Site will have you following a
comic book style Adventure Chart. There are also Hazards, Battles, Experience
cards, Event cards and more to give life to the game. Game includes play
for solitaire.
Game
components include : Gameboard, 5 Pawns, 5 cardboard Expedition Figures
w/ stands, cardboard Chase Figure w/ stand, 12 cardboard Creature Figures
w/ stands, 30 Site tiles, 18 Tool markers, 34 Event cards, 26 Experience
cards, 8 Adventure charts, 4 Dice, Simplified Play sheet & 2 Rules
booklets.
Game
components include (2nd Edition) : Gameboard, 4 Pawns, 4 cardboard Expedition
Figures w/ stands, cardboard Chase figure w/ stand, 12 cardboard Creature
Figures w/ stands, 18 cardboard Tool markers, 30 Unexplored Site tiles,
34 Event cards, 26 Experience cards, 15 Adventures on 8 charts, 3 Dice,
Simplified Play sheet & instructions.
One
to four (or six) players. Ages 8 & up. Avalon Hill.
Additional
info: Some of the list of contents on the 2nd Edition box were misprinted
on the box and are wrong. For example, it will state there should be 36
cardboard playing pieces (Expedition and Creature). There is only 17 ---
4 Expedition, 1 Chase & 12 Creature. It also lists 2 instruction books
--- there is only a single 8-page instruction book. These apparent errors
are because the Second Edition game seem to use the First Edition game
box in many cases. Perhaps Avalon Hill was trying to get rid of a surplus
supply of old boxes?
There
were articles on this game in "The General" magazine:
Vol.
25 # 1
Vol.
26 # 1 Solitaire game
An
important note regarding Avalon Hill games
- It was not unusual for Avalon Hill to re-publish most of their games
with 2nd, 3rd or more Editions. Sometimes the game components changed,
sometimes they didn't. If your game components do not correspond exactly
with what is listed, do not despair. You may just have to do a little more
checking to insure its completeness.
