"Tactics".

1958 - Charles Roberts forms
Avalon Hill and publishes "Tactics II", "Gettysburg" and "Dispatcher".
"Gettysburg" is released using squares, not hexes.

1961 - "D-Day" is published,
first game to use hexes. "Gettysburg" is re-released using hexes.

1963 - Monarch Services takes
over Avalon Hill, Roberts leaves.

1964 - "The General" magazine
is published. "Gettysburg" is re-re-released, going back to squares.

1970 - "PanzerBlitz", one of
their more innovative and popular games, is published.

1974 - "Third Reich", to become
one of their most popular, but most heavily revised games, is published.

1976 - Avalon Hill acquires
sole marketing rights for Sports Illustrated games and buys out 3M's Game
Division.

1977 - "Squad Leader", which
was to spark so much innovation in the wargame community, is published.

1980 - Avalon Hill enters the
computer market, forming Microcomputer division.
