The
genre of the game, "Managing Your Money", was quite common over the years.
It was a combination of entertainment and game put out by banks, financial
institutions, insurance companies, and similar businesses (in this particular
case, Cuna Mutual) which was both advertising for the companies involved
and a game which highlighted the particular business the company was in.
It also served to anchor the notions of good insurance or wise savings
--- again, generally toward the institution which published it. Players
start with a loan from the Credit Union, try to land on a Vocation to take
up, eventually upgrade through a Technical School and go through good times,
hard times, unexpected events and unknown events, to reach the objective
of repaying the original Credit Union loan, plus adding to their share-savings
account. The company is still around today.
Game
components include : Gameboard, Play money w/ Bank Tray, 2 Dice, 6 Playing
pieces, 6 Credit Union Passbooks, Credit Union Ledger sheets, 18 Unexpected
cards, 18 Unknown cards, 12 Vocation cards, 30 Insurance cards, plastic
Holding Tray & instructions. Game does not state exact contents.
Two
to six players. Ages 12 & up. Cuna Mutual Insurance / Cumis Insurance
from 1969.
This appears to be the only
game published by this company. If you have more information, please contact
