Move
your "ele" & "kea" on the "papamu", making "holos" in order to "ai"
and, hopefully, not "make". OK, in English, that is Hawaiian terms for
the dark and light pieces, gameboard, jumps, win and lose. "Konane", the
Hawaiian version of Checkers, is definitely a little different than what
you may be used to but interesting, nonetheless.
Game
components include (for version shown) : wood Gameboard (handcrafted Hawaiian
Koa wood), Beach Stone Men playing pieces, Coral Men playing pieces &
instructions. Game does not list number of playing pieces but about 30
to 40 of each is needed. These were Beach Stones and Coral from Hawaii.
Two
players. Made by Anekona Hawaii (no date listed - estimate late 1960s or
1970s).
Additional
info: Try this website
for more information, including how to play the game.
Anekona Hawaii sold many
products throughout the 1960s and 1970s, all having some link to Hawaii.
I am not sure when they may have gone out of business (or even if they
went out of business). If you have more information, please contact me
