One
of those great kid's games that some of the "old people" used to play when
they were kids. Built around the old TV cartoon show, The Flintstones,
the game was extremely simple ... just get rid of the cards in your hand.
It is a fairly standard card game, with each player receiving cards and
a draw pile made of the rest. Where the TV cartoon characters come into
play is filling in their faces on the paper "board", which has the faces
of Fred, Barney, Wilma and Betty on it (plus some animals, like Dino).
If a player can place the right numbered card on one of the faces or animal,
they have gotten rid of a card ... if they can not, they must draw another
card. Play continues until one player gets rid of all the cards in their
hand..
During
this time period Whitman put out quite a few mini-size card games using
"matchbox-like" boxes to hold the cards, including Hearts,
Crazy
Eights, Old Maid and Snap (to name
a few). Some of the "older" ones reading this will recall actual matches
in small matchboxes, with strikers on the sides. While this is not quite
as small, this uses the same type of "matchbox" box holder and the cards
are small - about 2" x 1.5".
Game
components include : (approx) 15" x 23" double-sided paper Gameboard, 56
mini-size Cards w/ matchbox-type box and instructions (on insert inside
box).
Two
to four players. Ages 5 & up. Whitman / Western Publishing (technically
called Western Printing at this point) from 1962.
