The
game involves moving a Scarab Beetle piece around the gameboard in an effort
to 'collect' the signs necessary to 'spell' a given hieroglyphic word.
While attempting to do this, you are at the same time trying to thwart
your opponents' efforts to complete their words. The gameboard displays
the 24 signs of the basic hieroglyphic alphabet, plus a small selection
of the 700 other signs used by ancient Egyptian scribes. The game involves
both skill and chance (by use of a die). Designed as a game and an educational
tool through a British Museum.
Game
components include : Gameboard, Scrab Beetle playing piece, Die, 8 Hieroglyphic
Word sheets, 20 black Counter pieces & instruction scroll.
Two
or more players. Ages 7 & up. Oxford Games / Ashmolean Museum from
1989.
