A
seriously funny (and fun), vintage game. Spin the spinner, then click ...
click ... click the crank handle on the side of the Pie Thrower machine
! Will you 'click' the time for the Pie Thrower to unleash that pile onto
your face? WHOOPS! When first released these included cans of "face foam",
but word has it they were quickly done away with when some of the cans
either 'exploded' or corroded due to poor storage. Most editions will have
the part about a can of face foam included blackened out. Today it's easiest
(and safest) to use shaving cream. Very highly sought after game.
Game
components include : plastic Pie Thrower machine (w/ cardboard Face cut-out,
plastic Chin Rest and 2 Crank Handle rubber boots), Spinner, Sponge, Scorepad
& instructions.
Any
number of players. Ages - generally 6 and up w/ adult supervision. Hassenfeld
Bros. (Hasbro) from 1968.
General
rules: Select a Point Goal to reach (say, 20). One spins the Spinner. The
player then rests their chin on the Chin Rest, and turns the crank the
number of clicks equal to the number they landed on the Spinner (example,
3). If they click the crank all 3 times without releasing the pie (foam),
they are awarded 3 points. If they have the pie (foam) thrown at them,
then they have 3 points taken away. Players rotate in order until someone
reaches the Point Goal. Using your imagination, you can create your own
set of rules around these.
