A
solitaire game of the British glider attack on the Benouville Bridge during
World War II, which was the beginning of D-Day. Historically the attack
was near picture perfect for the British. The Germans were surprised and
shocked, and the German High Command added to the problems. The game begins
with the gliders landing and a die-roll check for "lost" and "crashed"
gliders.
The
game then proceeds tactically, with individual leaders, tanks, infantry,
sappers, anti-tank guns, machine guns, grenades, bunkers, a Mercedes Benz
car, piats and more, with some hand-to-hand combat.
There
are two basic scenarios: Historical, which is recommended as a learning
experience to get the hang of the system and game; and Variable Forces,
which has 3 levels of play --- beginner, advanced & expert.
Game
components include : Mapsheet, 200 Counters (includes 1 blank) and Rules.
One
player. Ages 12 & up. 3W / World Wide Wargames from 1988 --- Strategy
& Tactics Magazine # 122.
