A
strategic-operational sim of the single most important campaign of World
War II in Europe, from November, 1942 to late-March, 1943. Each player
takes the role of commander for either the Germans or the Soviets. Hexes
are equal to about 15 miles and game turns are about 10 days. There is
only one scenario --- a 12-turn Campaign game, with playing time around
6 hours.
Because
the German player will not be playing their turns with the same rigidity
imposed upon the real commander in the field at the time, Erich Von Manstein,
the Soviet player will be hard-pressed to match the historic gains made
by the real Soviet Army. The victory conditions have been "balanced" to
allow for a more of a "game". The German player, however, should not take
immediate joy in being free of their historic counterpart's necessary moves
as dictated from Berlin. The Soviet forces engaged are huge and powerful,
and one can quickly make mistakes. Medium complexity.
Game
components include : Mapsheet, 200 Counters (includes 6 blanks) and Rules.
Two
players. Ages 12 & up. 3W / World Wide Wargames from 1988 --- Strategy
