This
operational-level game actually covers two Civil War campaigns, 1862 -
Stonewall
In The Valley, and 1864 - Sheridan In The Valley.
The rules are commonly shared, as are a number of Counters. Each hex is
about 2 miles, each strength point about 300 men, and each turn represents
about 2 days. Low to medium complexity.
Stonewall
In The Valley has three scenarios - Kernstown To McDowell,
McDowell To Harper's Ferry & Harper's Ferry To Port Republic, covering
the time period (basically) from March, 1862 to June, 1862.
Sheridan
In The Valley has two scenarios - Sigel In The Valley &
Sheridan Moves In The Valley, covering the time period from the spring
of 1864 to Sheridan's being put into command and his first campaign. The
second scenario also has the option of being extended. With some finagling,
it is possible to play these solitaire.
Game
components include : 22" x 34" Mapsheet, 150 Counters (no blanks) and Rules.
(NOTE:
The rules state there are 200 Counters - 100 for each game - but this was
an incorrect printing. Although there were 200 Counters included in total,
only 150 actually applied to the games and the other 50 Counters were for
corrections / updates to other games).
Two
players (can be played solitaire). Ages 12 & up. 3W / World Wide Wargames
